“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command." I was a teenager when I first read Orwell's 1984. It had a great impact on me and opened my eyes to the ways people could be manipulated.

As I have watched the unfolding of politics in the USA, it is George Orwell I often hear whispering in my ear. I’d rather read good satirical dystopian fiction than to live it. I wish I could believe that come November 5th, we’ll just begin a new chapter but I’ve become jaded about my fellow citizens. Yet, I’m holding out hope that this story has a twist, a happy ending.
